(And add one more, cuz next year is another big move :)
Born in Brooklyn NY my parents decided it wasn't the greatest area to raise their dear little princess oh & baby son (who isn't too important btw lol) so they moved to Staten Island, NY in my Mom's mom's old house on Castelton Ave. Being that the corner store filled with gangbangers, drug dealers, and other "decent" characters infected the street they decided to move a few blocks away and purchased a two family home on the much safer, Charles Avenue. Before the big move, my parents both having two FULL time jobs sent us to live with our Grandparents in Trinidad & Tobago until I was ready to start school. When I turned 12, my parents had their epiphany to move upstate NY in an overly suburban area. There our house sat comfortably on a full acre of land with a huge dirt bike trail in the back and plenty of room for our rotty, Lucky, to run around aimlessly. With your neighbors a hike away, having cows in their backyards (as pets) and living two blocks away from the apple orchard, you could say we were in the middle of nowhere lol. After a short vacation in Florida you can easily predict what my dearing parents had in store for our family of five next! We moved into a three bedroom home where we stayed for about a year until our new house on Voltair terrace was finished being built. All I could think about was FINALLY! It's going to be permanent, we're NEVER leaving Florida! My parents purchased 5 more homes which they rented out. While making lavish updates to our own home, I wouldn't DARE to dream of moving anywhere else. Little did I know the housing market had a surprise for my family & I. The crashing market caused most of our renters to lose their jobs, hence them hiding everytime my mom & I would go to collect the rent. It became harder and harder to manage 5 houses plus our own, and mortgages that had to be maintained. In efforts to cover all the housing expenses my dad bought an 18 wheeler which he then hired someone to run the truck as my mother, Danny, and I worked to manage the company. When that idea failed, my father was left with no choice but to go back up north to get a higher paying job and a place for us to live. I had to leave at the end of my Junior year to start a new high school my senior year. I was crushed entirely, but I knew I had to hold it together because my parents had suffered the biggest loss that anyone could ever imagine. I kept thinking why US? Why did this happen to US? I had only ever known to have the finest things in life and not because I had gotten it easily, but because I always reminded myself that both my parents worked hard for it. They worked hard for all three of us to get whatever we wanted because my dad never believed in depriving his children of anything. Though our family has been subjected to an unfavoring fate, we chose to pick up the pieces, undergo the struggles to get where we are today. And now we're well on our way to doing better than we were before. This whole experience was tragic for us but brought us closer as a family. Taught us how to work hard and stick together because that's what a family is all about. And now what's in store for the Rams? Well, my parents are planning on buying a small house for me so I can continue to go to school in NJ and moving on back upstate where they enjoy the quiet and suburban amenities of life.
